Insta

is a research based project based on the social platform called Instagram. It used across many people in Turkey. It is a perfect spot to show others how impeccable life we are living. Having too many friends, looking beautiful or nice, wearing expensive clothes or possessing luxury cars use of a self-sesteem which we satisfy ourselves. After moving to New York, I found this to be more common in my own country. On a basis of the colors appeared on the photos shared by my friends, might be evaluated in terms of how they want to be perceived in the social platforms of their own sharings.

STAGES

Considering my friend list on my Instagram account, I have seen that people share their photos depending on their own interest, some of them were sharing scenery views where they traveled some of them were sharing visually satisfying tasty meals and expensive restaurants, while others share things and items in the flow of life Rest were taking selfies or more reserved in their profile. I was also one of them.

DICTIONARY

I’ve created a dictionary which brings together colors and forms. According to this dictionary, each HTML code with 6 numerical digits represent a shape. According to this dictionary I have created a format to precise each photos representation on color and shape.

I’ve been inspired from everyday life simple objects while creating these shims.

I collected every data they have shared including 3 months. Everyone was giving weight to photos containing different categories in their profiles. If I take 4 friends that I’ve given sample to describe:

Olivier shared more food photos in the last three months, while Ipek shared more selfies. While LadyLosh is average in each category, Burcu and Tugberk have not even shared any photos in some of class.

Based on the data collected, I have placed the figures to a three diagonal lines so that a hexagonal with each inner angle 120 degrees can be obtained. During placement, I have used my each person’s self-specific photo colors in four class. For example, Olivier shared 3 landscape photos, which is the second class, I obtained three separate figures with different colors.
